1) Louisville, Ky was founded 1778 by George Roger Clark, a famous Revolutionary War brigadier general and hero. His younger brother, William, was famous as the co-leader of the 'Lewis & Clark Expedition'.

2) The metropolitan area is approximately 400 sq. miles and has a population of 1.3 million. Because we are centrally located to many other states, and directly border seven states, many large companies have chosen Louisville either for their headquarters, or their distribution centers.

3) Louisville International Airport is the also the worldwide air hub for United Parcel Service (also known as 'Worldport'). This facility is currently the size of 80 football fields, employs over 20,000 people and is capable of handling 115 packages a second, or 416,000 per hour.

4) Louisville is the headquarters for Humana, YUM brands, Papa Johns, Brown-Foreman, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and many others.

5) YUM Brands (Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut) is the world's largest fast food business with over 39,000 restaurants in 125 countries.

6) Our city's beautiful parks and 'parkway' system was designed by world famous Frederick Law Olmsted. Our's is one of only four completed Olmsted-designed park systems in the world. He also designed New York City's Central Park, and the U.S. Capitol Grounds.

10) The Louisville metropolitan area is sometimes also referred to as 'Kentuckiana' because it includes counties in Southern Indiana. The population exceeded 1.3 million in the 2010 census. Kentuckiana, is the 42nd largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the United States Jefferson County, Kentucky (contiguous with Louisville Metro), plus twelve outlying counties — eight in Kentucky and four in Southern Indiana are now a part of this MSA.
